Prof. Rathnakara Aithal K. holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) from Bangalore University, an LL.B. and LL.M. in Constitutional Law from the University of Mysore, and a Ph.D. in Law from the University of Mysore, with doctoral research on the judicial enforcement of positive rights, including the rights to food, shelter, livelihood, work, and education. He has had a distinguished academic career in legal education, having served in various teaching positions including Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Reader, Professor of Law, and Head of Centre for Post Graduate Studies and Research in Law. He has also held several important administrative positions, including Dean, Faculty of Law, Karnatak University, Dean, Faculty of Law, Kuvempu University, Principal of Karnatak University’s Sir Siddappa Kambali Law College, and Acting Vice-Chancellor of Karnatak University, Dharwad. His academic contributions include research supervision at the Ph.D., M.Phil., and LL.M. levels, publications in constitutional law, human rights, social justice, intellectual property law, and governance, and extensive participation as a resource person in seminars, workshops, and academic programmes. His areas of interest include Constitutional Law, Human Rights Law, Judicial Process, Social Justice, Intellectual Property Law, Environmental Law, Legal Education, and Public Law.
