Vice-Chancellor’s Message (KLE Tech)

Dr. Prakash G. Tewari

Vice-Chancellor, KLE Technological University, Hubballi

Dear Students,

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to KLE Law College, Bengaluru, a constituent college of KLE Technological University, Hubballi. With a distinguished legacy extending over five decades, the College has made a significant contribution to legal education by nurturing knowledgeable, competent and socially responsible members of the legal profession.

At KLE Technological University, we believe that higher education must enable students to understand complex challenges, think independently and create meaningful solutions for society. Our academic environment promotes engaged learning, research, innovation, professional competence and collaboration across disciplines. The inclusion of legal education within this multidisciplinary ecosystem strengthens the University’s capacity to address contemporary technological, economic, regulatory and social concerns.

Law is increasingly interconnected with technology, business, healthcare, environmental sustainability, data governance, artificial intelligence and public policy. Legal education must therefore extend beyond the traditional study of statutes and judicial decisions. It must prepare students to understand emerging developments, examine their societal implications and respond with intellectual clarity, ethical judgment and professional responsibility.

KLE Law College, Bengaluru provides students with opportunities to combine academic learning with practical and experiential education. Moot courts, internships, clinical legal education, legal-aid initiatives, research projects, seminars, conferences and interactions with professionals enable students to develop the analytical, advocacy, drafting, communication and problem-solving skills required for contemporary legal practice.

Research forms an essential part of the University’s academic vision. Students and scholars must be encouraged to question established assumptions, undertake rigorous inquiry and contribute new perspectives to law and public policy. The College’s undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes offer a strong platform for developing interdisciplinary and socially relevant legal scholarship.

While knowledge and professional competence are vital, the true measure of legal education lies in the values it cultivates. Integrity, fairness, empathy, respect for constitutional principles and commitment to the rule of law must guide every legal professional. I encourage students to remain sensitive to social realities and to use their education in the service of justice, inclusion and national development.

I urge you to participate actively in the academic and institutional life of the College, engage constructively with your teachers and peers, and make full use of the opportunities available within the University. Your years of legal education should prepare you not only for a successful career but also for responsible citizenship and meaningful leadership.

I wish every student an intellectually enriching educational journey and success in all future endeavours.
