The Karnatak Lingayat Education Society, widely known as the KLE Society, is one of India’s leading educational and philanthropic organisations. Founded in 1916 at Belagavi, the Society was established by a group of visionary educationists committed to extending the benefits of education to communities that had limited access to formal learning. Its founding
ideal of “Empowerment through Education” continues to guide its academic and social endeavours.
The founders, respectfully remembered as the “Saptarishis”, began the Society’s educational journey by establishing the G.A. High School in Belagavi in 1916, with particular concern for students from rural and farming communities. From these modest beginnings, KLE developed steadily across school, collegiate, professional and higher education, building an
enduring tradition founded on sacrifice, public service and social responsibility.
Over more than a century, the KLE Society has grown into a vast educational, healthcare and research network. It currently manages more than 317 institutions, including schools, colleges, universities, professional institutions, technical institutes, research centres, hospitals and business schools. Its institutions serve learners across Karnataka, parts of Maharashtra and New Delhi, extending educational opportunities to students from diverse social, economic and geographical backgrounds.
The Society’s contribution spans a wide range of disciplines, including law, engineering,medicine, health sciences, management, agriculture, commerce, science, humanities, teacher education and emerging areas of professional study. Its educational ecosystem is complemented by healthcare institutions, research facilities, innovation centres and
community-oriented initiatives that contribute to regional and national development.
